Yesterday i wore my new RED colored tracks and went for jogging. While jogging i started thinking about RED color and realized there were so many things behind the color RED.
The first thing that comes to the mind when talking about RED color is bull fight (Remember the Padayappa seen in which a the color RED angers a bull!!). Well it is a big misconception that bulls get angry by looking at color RED. In fact bulls are color blind! The torero (the main performer of bull fight) uses a RED cloth to attract the bull in a series of passes and the reason for choosing a RED color is to mask the bull`s blood.
RED is also considered as communist color. The Soviet Union, China and all communist countries have RED colored flags. In India too the communist parties of India have RED colored flags. The color RED relates to "blood of workers" or sufferings during the period they were suppressed by wealthy nobles( period before the revolutions). (I`m still jogging)
RED is considered to be the most attractive of all colors. That is why RED is often used either in a negative way to indicate danger and emergency, or in a positive way in advertising to gain more viewers(Vodafone whoes advertisements are very famous are all in RED), or in nature, as a ripe fruit announces its readiness. RED light can be viewed from longer distance hence signal use RED light to indicate stop. One of my friends hates RED colored dress, not because he hates the color but for a reason that every time he wears a RED dress he gets hurt someway or other.(That is really strange)
Recently i read in news paper that team with RED Jersey has higher probability of winning.
Even after returning to home, i was still stuck with RED. So searched in net about RED and got a few interesting info.First the basics :RED is any of a number of similar colors evoked by light consisting predominantly of the longest wavelengths of light discernible by the human eye, in the wavelength range of roughly 625–740 nanometer .Next a bit of history and tradition: The word RED is said to be derived from Sanskrit word RUDRA meaning RED. In India RED is associated with wealth, beauty and goddess Lakshmi. Finally in human color psychology, the color RED is associated with emotions like anger, passion and love that "stir the blood".( I really liked the info abt the relationship between red and India... i meant the RUDRA part)
